Each week we have a new ‘Brave, Bright and Bold’ person of the week. I’ve tried to assemble a list of individuals that is representative of different genders, time periods, cultures, backgrounds, and accomplishments.
I begin the introduction by showing students a picture of that week’s subject and asking what they know about him or her. Typically someone has heard of the person, and the conversation moves on from there. Why does this person deserve to be in the spotlight this week? We discuss.
My hope with this activity is to begin exposing my students to amazing human beings who have in some way improved the human race. I tell my students that if they know of someone who deserves to be our person of the week, I will take their suggestions.
